#49: The Spiritual Money Myth Blocking Your Abundance
We’ve all heard it: “Money is just energy.” Or, “Money is neutral.”
But the truth is…. money doesn’t flow through a neutral system, and pretending otherwise is not spirituality. It’s bypassing.
In this post, I want to unpack the spiritual money myth that keeps so many of us stuck, and share what real abundance actually means.
The Common Myth: “Money Is Neutral”
In spiritual and self-development spaces, money is often described as neutral energy, something we can direct with our beliefs, intentions, and actions. And yes, our beliefs about money do matter. They shape how we receive, hold, and give.
But that’s only half the truth.
The system money flows through is not neutral. It’s built on inequality, exploitation, and privilege. When we deny this, we slip into spiritual bypassing, offering pretty words that avoid hard truths.
Why the “Wrong People” Seem to Have More Money
You’ve probably noticed it: the narcissist, the manipulator, the exploiter often appears to have more wealth than those with genuine heart and awareness.
The easy explanation? “It’s all about belief.” But money doesn’t move in a vacuum. It circulates through systems that reward greed and exploitation while millions struggle to survive.
This is why belief alone is never the full story.
Wealth vs. Abundance
Here’s the deeper truth: wealth and abundance are not the same.
Wealth often shows up as accumulation, hierarchy, and control.
Abundance is about flow, generosity, sufficiency, and connection.
You can be wealthy and live in scarcity or live abundantly with modest means.
True abundance doesn’t drive past suffering with tinted windows. It sees, responds, and gives.
Holding Both Truths
Spiritual teachings often fracture into two extremes:
“Your beliefs create your reality.”
“The system is rigged, so there’s no point.”
But real spirituality asks us to hold both truths at once.
Yes, our beliefs matter. And yes, systems shape what is possible long before we take our first breath.
Acknowledging inequality isn’t negativity - it’s clarity.
Redefining Abundance
What does abundance look like when we stop bypassing and start telling the truth?
It’s not about accumulation or climbing higher than others.
It’s about connection, circulation, and care.
It’s about using what we have, whether little or much, to uplift one another.
Abundance is not what we clutch to our chest. It’s what we release into the world.
Final Thoughts
The spiritual money myth says, “money is neutral.” But when we face both personal and systemic truths, money becomes more than a tool; it becomes an opportunity for healing, justice, and real abundance.
Because abundance isn’t what you own.
It’s how you live, how you give, and who you are becoming.
