When I Didn’t Follow the Pattern: A Real-Time Teaching on Presence

“Presence doesn’t chase answers. It witnesses what’s here.”

The moment came quickly… a flicker of déjà vu, something I’ve felt many times before.

But this time… I didn’t follow it.

In the past, I would’ve tried to decode it.
Tried to make sense of it.
Predict it. Protect myself from what might come.

But that instinct to “figure it out” wasn’t truth. It was habit.
It was ego searching not for clarity, but for confirmation.

What Shifted

Instead of attaching meaning to the moment, I allowed it to unfold.

And what I realized, in real time, was this:

When you seek from protection or predictability, the answer you get will only reflect what you already know.

But presence…
Presence doesn’t seek.
It sees. It allows truth to rise on its own.

And sometimes truth isn’t comfortable.
But it always brings freedom.

Watch the Moment Unfold

Here’s the video I recorded just minutes after the experience:

Reflection Questions

  • What patterns in your life do you tend to assign meaning to too quickly?

  • When you ask questions—especially in moments of uncertainty—what’s the motive behind them?

  • Can you allow a moment to unfold naturally, without rushing to interpret it?

Final Note

Not all teachings are planned.
Some arrive quietly… in a flicker of déjà vu, in a breath, in a moment of not reacting the way you always have.

This was one of those moments for me.
And I wanted to share it, not because it’s polished, but because it’s true.
